Health Affairs is a peer-reviewed, bimonthly journal of managed care and health policy published by the nonprofit Project HOPE foundation. Since 1981 Health Affairs has become the most respected health policy journal, with the largest readership and circulation. The journal's editor since 1981 John K. Iglehart established Health Affairs' unique mission: to incorporate in one publication the diverse view points and perspectives of the health sphere - labor, industry, government, and academe - in a way that benefit every reader.

Authors include industry leaders, policymakers and academics in health research, policy, economics, medicine, sociology, law, politics, administration and related fields. Thanks to an editorial staff, the high quality of the journal's content is matched by the quality of the writing. Articles are always readable and short.

Principal subscribers of the journal are mainly health care executives in development and planning, managed care and contracting, marketing, insurance, government affairs and health education; academics in health administration, health policy, public health and medicine; health researchers, business analysts, health consultants; government policymakers and officials; physicians, lobbyists, health law attorneys and students.

Health Affairs is also widely used as a textbook in schools of health policy, health administration and medicine, throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Health Affairs covers a wide range of topics, including:

Managed care Long-term care
Cost containment Access to care
International health systems Health system change
Physicians Medicare and Medicaid
Philanthropy New technologies
Mental health Health professions education
